Week 18

In contrast to the other weeks lately with fewer than six riding days, I planned this one to be five days. Since 1995, I have never eaten a bite on the fourth of May in memory of my sister. Riding my 29 miles on a day on which I don’t eat is a really bad idea.

This week was fairly eventful. After an early morning crash on Tuesday, I found my halfway point on Thursday, and stomped out an astounding morning commute on Friday, averaging 19.2 miles an hour (better than my previous best by almost a minute and a half). Saturday’s trudge allowed me to set a new top speed, but dragged my average speed on the week down a little bit.

Hopefully, the weather improves a little bit and starts giving me temperatures in the upper 70s some time soon. Oh, and while we’re making wish lists, I could use a little less of the 20+ mph headwinds on the way home every single day. Thanks.
