Election 2000

Today, I went to the polls early, on the way to work, casting my ballot for Al Gore. I got to work, praying that the news outlets would relax a little on the speculation just this once, so that everyone could vote out here before a winner was announced. My prayer went unanswered. In the afternoon at some point, the outlets announced that George had won Indiana and Kentucky outright. So much for the pre-game analysis. Over the course of the evening, a president was proclaimed, then retracted, and now who knows? It’s all seeming like another staged sham to drive ratings at CNN. How fucking American.

I took Kate to SFO to pick up her Aussie friend, Josh, in the middle of rush hour (the Devil’s Slide toward Half Moon Bay sucks my testes), and ended up having the very most disgusting pakoras in a butthole of an Indian restaurant in San Mateo.

Josh is really cool and, after meeting Garrett for the first time, I kinda like him too. Very cool people. Quite a day of frustrating traffic, annoying new radio and TV idiots, and good conversation with a couple of fellow geeks.
