[...] Four months ago today, I got on the scale and was disturbed by the number facing me. It disturbed me enough that I decided to do something about it. I’d been checking out some workouts here and there, reading what friends of mine were trying to do. I implemented my initial plan based on my old Army PT, established a baseline, and started setting goals. [...]

[...] Two months ago today, I started doing CrossFit as my primary training regimen. Since that day, I have lost 23 pounds and I’ve noticed significant changes in my body composition in the process. Today’s weigh in had me at 158 pounds, 38 pounds lighter than 16 weeks ago, and I feel like I am in better shape now than when I was primarily a cyclist. I have a long way to go, but I know it’s going to be awesome to reach and surpass my goals. Especially with more brutal barrages of work like today. [...]

[...] This morning, I got on the scale as I do every day and noticed the number: 165.5. As of this morning, I am lighter by 30½ pounds than I was just three months ago. I have another little bit to go and a long way to go until I’m in the kind of shape I’m after. Still, it sure feels good to no longer be overweight. It feels especially good to be able do things that I didn’t think I’d be able to do, like my 10 km runs last week. [...]

[...] I am 20.5 pounds lighter today than I was 64 days ago. I’m making progress. I now have 10.5 pounds to my goal of 165 pounds. I’m also working on increasing my overall fitness level by an exponent. I’ve been walking back and forth to the train station to work (I got a new job a month ago in San Francisco), which is almost two miles each way (my backpack weighs about 25 pounds). And eleven days ago, I started doing CrossFit workouts. [...]

[...] Over the past seven weeks since the shocking weigh-in, I’ve lost 15 pounds. Starting on September 1, I’ve meticulously tracked what I eat and how much I exercise, thanks to my heart rate monitor. I’ve been doing a burpee weight workout over the last couple of weeks to prepare myself for what seems like the ultimate fitness regiment — CrossFit. [...]

[...] Woo! Weigh in this morning was 188.5 pounds. That’s 7.5 pounds since July 27. That’s three weeks ago. I’m losing, on average, about 2.5 pounds (or just over a kilogram) per week. Okay, time to keep on moving. [...]
