Unstoppable

Yesterday, AccuWeather asserted that the rains would start in the zip codes through which I’d be commuting home around 7 p.m. Pacific Time. They actually started about 4:45, catching me on Foothill Expressway. I considered stopping to don my shell, but the temperature didn’t drop too much, so I kept hammering along.

This morning, the same site asserted that the rains would start around 7 a.m. Pacific Time. Again, they were off. Chalk up another eight miles in the rain to work. Only this time, I was 2½ minutes faster this morning in the rain than I was yesterday. Perhaps the tailwind helped me out.

This afternoon, the indication for rain came after noon, when it looked like there would be a nice little window of opportunity to get my commute done and stay dry. Well, that didn’t happen. Add seven more miles of rainy riding. But, at the end of it all, I got my mileage anyway.

Rain miles (last two days): 25.
Required: 57.04 mi (28.52 × 2)

Achieved: 58.13 mi (29.32 + 28.81)

As River says, “No power in the ‘verse can stop me.”
