Taking Delivery

Today, I went to get the Trek. I realized that, to get to the Outfitter, I’d need to ride two VTA busses. So, I gathered up all the things I’d need to ride the new bike home, and tossed them all into a backpack, put a pair of pants on over my cycling clothes, and got on the bus.

I remembered everything I needed to hook my cyclometer up to the bike and make today’s miles count, except (I realized this at the very last moment) the sensor magnet. So, riding the bike home entailed miles that don’t count. Ah, well.

Can’t wait to ride to work tomorrow. Once I get used to the machine and its more aerodynamic riding position, thinner tires, and more stretched out lean, I will post numbers to my log that will blow my mind.

But, the bicycle is finished, it’s beautiful, and I am so happy. […]

Trying Out the Trainer at The Oracle of Apollo

[…] I really wanted to see what would happen if I stayed within my target heart rate zone. So, I got into my cycling clothes, set up the trainer on the back porch, filled up my water bottle, found my iPod, and got ready to go. First, I noticed that it was quite difficult to get the non-gear side of my Trek 520 into the trainer. Either it doesn’t fit or I just need more practice getting it in there tight and secure. […]
