Giant Cypress DX

I finally made the plunge today and remedied my bus-dependent transportation situation at the moment and made a bold and decisive choice about my future health. Hopefully, it sticks.

I went down the street to Stan’s Bicycle and acquired a new set of wheels. For the first time in almost three years, I own a bicycle. This one is a brand new 2002 Giant Cypress DX. I got a Viper light (I need to find an alternate mounting for the battery pack, so I can have my bottle holder back) and a nifty new helmet that makes me look fierce. I get to take it in to the shop on Friday to add fenders to it. The bicycle set me back $340 plus tax, bringing the total to about $500 (including a $60 light and other accessories). It should pay for itself, if only because it requires no gasoline, very quickly.

I have been putting off going to the gym because I’m a lazy bastard. With my new giant, I don’t have to worry about it anymore. I’ll get a good amount of exercise riding 4 miles each way to work. And maybe I’ll start engaging myself in more active pursuits. Probably not quite this active, but anything is better than nothing, no?
