Today was the production team’s Beer Bash, a newly minted tradition where I work. We had a little brainstorming session yesterday to decide how to make everyone “look like bitches.” We came up with a shindig that noone will top for a long time.

In the brainstorming session, we decided we’d need a bartender and some musicians. We’d just need someone to pour the beer and wine. So, the big guys decided that we’d need to hire one. “Why not just get one of us in a tuxedo?” I suggested. “We’d have to rent someone a tuxedo. Who would we pick?”

Seriously, it blew my mind that noone owned a tuxedo. I volunteered, but I also realized that in order to put together the ultimate hamfest, I’d need to play my beautiful 1930s C-Melody Saxophone, along with our piano player and drummer. So, I showed up in my tuxedo, and we played for over an hour.

It’s painful to me how rusty I’ve become, but after I stopped giving a fuck about passing college music juries and just playing some fun stuff, we came together and had a good time. Let’s see the next crew best “The Ollie Hatch Trio.”

Toot!
