Giving Back

In order to give back to the community and support an extremely important organization that helps lots of people, I have decided to sponsor Seth Dillingham in his goal to ride in the Pan-Mass Challenge to raise money for cancer research.

Lots of people wish him well, but I decided that it would be a good thing to contribute ten cents to his goal. For every mile on my chart. I have 4022.98 miles on my chart.

The Pan-Mass Challenge is trying to raise $21 million for cancer research, including the $6,000 that Seth’s trying to raise. You should help him out. Chances are you or someone you love will be affected by cancer at some point in your life. Go help Seth right now. If I can do it before I’ve had any caffeine before I’m even in the shower yet, what are you waiting for?

Apollo!!!

Thank you, man, very much. That’s really incredible, I appreciate it. The link is really helpful too!

I have a page that offers other ways to sponsor the ride, too, and there’s also an essay about why I ride in the PMC.

I wish more people could be motivated to help out just by reading something on my site. I would bet that about 0.5 percent of my readers have ever bothered to make a donation. Even worse, someone wrote to me immediately after that last post just to “wish me well” in my fundraising efforts. I’m not even sure he got the irony.

Thanks again!

Seth

P.S. If you can work it out, you should fly out and ride with us next year. There were > 25 riders from CA there last year. It’s an incredible experience.

It’s really the least I can do. My grandfather died of cancer 20 years ago in Idaho and several of my friends have been personally affected.

I hope lots of people are inspired to donate. I’m surprised more people haven’t pledged at least a little bit. I hope my example leads more people to help push toward your goal.

As for riding in the PMC myself, I guess we’ll have to see how I’m doing after my tour of the Rockies (which I’m still planning).

Besides, y’all have that humidity thing out there, don’t you? I’m used to triple digit temperatures in the summer with 5 – 10% humidity. Sounds like a radically different environment up there in the Northeast.

Still it sounds like fun.

Have a great ride.

Regarding the weather: Go read about last year’s ride. The weather was totally, utterly perfect.

This year the weather has been crazy. 95° with 90% humidity one day, 65° and 40% humidity the next. Certainly keeps us guessing.
