UNEAQ

Tonight’s party was a small party to help Uneaq raise funds to get to the Winter Music Conference in Miami. Andrew called me up earlier in the week to see if I was planning to go after I posted the latest of their gigs. Unfortunately, his requirement to do a sound check really early precluded me from riding up in the minivan with Andrew and Nick.

I got to Luna Lounge around 11 or so. There were a few people sitting around the bar and some DJ spinning house beats to an utterly deserted main floor, but it was still early (yes, 11 is early in San Francisco). Certainly, the crowds would show up any time.

By shortly before Uneaq was scheduled to play, Andrew convinced a bunch of the people smoking outside the Cat Club next door that they could come over without cover charge and check out his live band. There aren’t that many live house acts around these days and a few interesting characters came over, but very few of them stayed for very long. Maybe it wasn’t their scene. shrug

Uneaq played for an hour and they were wonderful as usual. It is so sad that such a talented trio of musicians draws a crowd on a Friday night that consists entirely of their own personal friends. They really deserve more than that.

You should see them. If you dig house music and you live in the Bay Area, they have more events coming up, including next weekend’s shindig in San José. I know where I’ll be.
